Within the Nackara Survey area, ten kimberlite bodies, identified by previous trenching operations in 2007, were loam sampled as part of an orientation exercise for kimberlitic indicator minerals. All ten targets have a veneer of soil cover. The exercise showed all ten kimberlites registered strong indicator halo responses, which rapidly fell off away from the known kimberlite locations.
These results confirm the Company’s belief that, in areas of erosional regolith, soil sample results over magnetic targets will show a positive indicator response over kimberlite. A number of sites in the Springfield area have already confirmed this assessment. The positive results can then be used to confirm kimberlite location by trenching or drilling.
